Knitting the Ribbed Brim

We’ll start the beanie with a simple 2×2 rib stitch edge, also known as the brim. Let’s begin knitting the brim together.

Row 1(RS): SL1(P), * K2, P2 * repeat from * to *
Row 2(WS): SL1(P), K1, * P2, K2 * repeat from * to * …………. last 3 sts P3
Repeat these two rows until you have a total of seven rows.
Row 8(WS): Purl all sts

How to Knit the Body of Your Beanie

The beanie is knitted using a combination of knit and purl stitches, and the pattern is worked over 20 rows that are repeated.
For the design, you’ll need to cast on stitches in a multiple of 8. In this beanie, stitches are also cast on in multiples of 8, with one extra stitch added for the edge.

The complete beanie knitting pattern and instructions on how to adjust the design are shared below.

Repeat these 20 rows to finish the beanie length. For my beanie, I knitted around 7 inches in total—1 inch for the 2×2 ribbed brim and 6 inches for the design. To achieve this length, the complete 20-row pattern was repeated 3 times.

How to Decrease for the Crown

The crown shaping is done by decreasing stitches as per the design. Here is the detailed crown decrease pattern for your beanie.
